Volleyball Heads To Memphis, UAB This Weekend

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will look to extend its five-match win streak this weekend when they travel to Memphis and UAB for two Conference USA match-ups.
The Cougars enter the weekend with an 11-8 overall record and a 5-2 mark in league action.
Houston will begin the weekend with a 7 p.m. match at Memphis on Friday, while closing out the weekend at UAB on Sunday at 1 p.m. Gametracker links for both matches will be available at UHCougars.com and a complete recap of each match will be available on the website following the day's action.
Lucy Charuk is one of four Cougars to pass the 100-kill mark this season and leads the team with 207. Amber Brooks, the reigning Conference USA Co-Setter of the Week, leads the team 717 assists and libero Amanda Carson has a team-best 337 digs.
Memphis is 11-7 entering the weekend with a 2-4 C-USA record. They finished 0-2 last weekend against SMU. Marija Jovanovic and Altrese Hawkins lead the team with a combined 469 kills, while Hajnalka Molnar paces the team with 558 assists.
UH is 20-8 all-time against the Tigers, including a 3-1 win last season in Tennessee.
The weekend will close out against the Blazers who enter the weekend with a 4-14 record and a 1-5 mark in league play. UAB has lost its last three matches against conference opponents, including two against Tulsa last weekend. Houston holds a 15-3 mark all-time against the Blazers despite losing 3-1 last season in Birmingham, Ala.
The Blazers match the Cougars with four players recording at least 100 kills. Jordan McDonald leads the way with 185 kills and Heather Thomas is the team leader in digs with 359.
UP NEXT
Following matches against Memphis and UAB, Houston will return to the Athletics/Alumni Center to play host to Tulsa and SMU on Oct. 22-23. The two teams currently sit at the top of the league standings.
