WALLACE, N.C. - The University of Houston golf team wraps up the regular season this weekend when it competes at the River Landing Intercollegiate, hosted by NC State.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,942 yard River Course with 36 holes to be played beginning at 6:30 a.m. (CDT), Friday and the final 18 holes on Saturday.
The Cougars are part of a 15-team field, with four currently ranking in Golfstat.com's top 50. UH joins Wake Forest, Virginia, Michigan, Duke, East Carolina, Hartford, Kansas, Maryland, Memphis, North Carolina, Rice, Tulsa, Virginia Tech and host NC State.
Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
Senior captain Ben Moser leads the Cougars with a 73.13 scoring average and enters the tournament after shooting a final-round 68 at last weekend's Administaff Augusta State Invitational to pace UH. It was his second straight tournament and the seventh time in eight events that the Windsor, Ontario, led the Cougars.
Junior Jackie Lindsey, who joins Moser as the only Cougars to compete in all eight tournaments to date, ranks second on the team with a 75.29 average.
Sophomore Matt Eschenburg, sophomore Clark Mitzner and senior captain Brady Shivers also are scheduled to compete for the Cougars.
This will be the Cougars' final regular-season tournament appearance. From here, the team competes at the 2009 Conference USA Championship on April 19-21 in Orlando.
A year ago, the Cougars finished 13th at the River Landing Intercollegiate, as Jordan Irwin finished with a score of 216 to tie for 11th place.
