Volleyball to Host "Dig Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness Match

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will kick off their weekend slate with its annual "Dig Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness Match Friday night against SMU at 7 p.m. in the Athletics/Alumni Center.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Cougars will help raise money for the Side Out Foundation. The Side Out Foundation is a non-profit group that helps women and men affected by breast cancer to regain control of their lives and live it to the fullest. They use the support of volleyball to sponsor tournaments, clinics and other events to raise funds to donate to organizations that share their vision of a cancer-free world.
Fans will be able to pledge a donation amount per dig recorded by UH during the match. A regular donation will also be accepted and all that contribute to the Side Out Foundation will receive a pink t-shirt.
The Cougars also will be wearing pink jerseys during the match, donated by Memorial Hermann Hospital. They will be auctioned off during the match for fans to purchase with all the proceeds going to the Side Out Foundation.
Prior to the match, Houston will present representatives from Memorial Hermann with an honorary jersey to thank them for their support of the "Dig Pink" match.
Fans will are encouraged to wear pink to the match.
Friday's match will not be the only C-USA competition on tab for the volleyball team. Houston will close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. match on Sunday against Tulsa.
