Houston - Junior outside hitter Justine Farmer was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Honorable Mention All-American as announced by the AVCA on Wednesday.
Farmer is the first Cougar to earn Honorable Mention honors on the 27th annual AVCA All-America Team. She was also named to the AVCA Midwest All-Region Team earlier this month.
The El Paso native finished the regular season with a 5.58 kills per game average to lead the nation. She finished the season leading the team in kills (606) and second in digs (389).
Farmer's 1,666 career kills ranks first in the UH record books and her 1,264 career digs rank fourth all-time. She also set a Houston record for attack attempts in a game with 99 against Texas-San Antonio. Farmer's 19 double-double this season also paced the Cougars.
At the 2007 Conference USA Volleyball Championship in Huntington, W. Va., this year, Farmer was named to the All-Conference USA First Team for the second straight season and she earned C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors twice.
