Volleyball Concludes Regular Season This Weekend

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team concludes the regular season this weekend with two final home matches against SMU and Tulsa. Houston opens the weekend with a 7pm match Friday against SMU and will face Tulsa on Sunday at 1pm to wrap-up the regular season.
The Cougars are 8-2 in the all-time series against the Mustangs. Houston defeated SMU 3-0 on Oct. 7 in Dallas in their first meeting this season.
UH takes an even 2-2 all-time record into Sunday's match against Tulsa. The last time Houston faced the Golden Hurricane was on Nov. 12, 2006 when Tulsa came away with the 3-1 advantage.
Entering this weekend's matches, Houston has three athletes who rank in the top 10 in conference action. In conference matches this season, junior Justine Farmer leads the league in kills (6.13 p/g) and points (351.0) and freshman Hannah Sullivan paces C-USA in services aces with 31.
Freshman libero Amanda Carson ranks sixth in digs (242) and sophomore Erin Rice is seventh in blocks (56.0).
Last weekend, Farmer moved into first place in career kills with 1,604. She has also continued to ascend up the career leaders in digs. Her 1,198 career digs currently rank fourth. Carson's 406 digs this season rank seventh in the all-time season leaders.
While Houston concludes the regular season, the year will not come to an end. Houston will travel to Huntington, W. Va., for the Conference USA Volleyball Tournament Nov. 15-18.
