Colorado Springs, Colo. - Houston libero Jaci Gonzalez, outside hitter Kariny Ritter and middle blocker Becca Sartori were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region Team as announced by the AVCA on Wednesday.
This is the first All-Region selection for all three players. The trio is now eligible for AVCA All-America honors that will be announced Dec. 14 before the NCAA Championships, which are being played at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
"I think it's a great way for Jaci and Kariny to end their careers. For them to earn this honor icing on the cake," assistant coach Phil Nickel said. "It's great for the program, and it shows the respect the University of Houston volleyball program has."
The Cougars finished the 2005 season with an 18-12 mark and a second-place finish at the Conference USA Tournament that concluded on Nov. 20.
