Volleyball Signs Two Players

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team inked two players to National Letters of Intent during the recent signing period, head coach Bill Walton announced on Wednesday.
Kinsey Cave (Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS) and Ashley Calhoun (Neenah, Wisc./Neenah HS) will join the Cougars starting in the 2006 season.
"A team is continuous," Walton said. "There is no beginning and no end. We're excited to have Kinsey and Ashley join our program and begin their careers at the University of Houston."
Cave was recently named All-CIF First Team and has been a scholar athlete all four years at El Dorado High School. She was also selected as a Century League First-Team performer and picked Houston over Cal State Northridge, Georgetown and Charlotte in the recruiting process. Cave is planning on majoring in Chemistry at UH.
Calhoun was an All-Conference First Team selection all four seasons at Neenah High School and was a All-State player in her last three seasons. She was also named Gatorade High School Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 and chose Houston over Florida State and North Carolina in the recruiting process. Calhoun is attending on majoring in Business at UH.
Houston finished the 2005 season with an 18-12 mark and a second-place finish at the Conference USA Tournament that concluded on Nov. 20.
