HOUSTON - For the fourth time this season, University of Houston freshman diver Tania Cagnotto was honored Tuesday as the Conference USA Diver of the Week.
It was the fifth award for UH divers in a six-week span to open the 2005-06 season. The Cougars did not earn the award for Nov. 1 after being off that week.
It also was the 27th time since the 2001-02 season that a Cougar was named C-USA Diver of the Week.
The Bolzano, Italy, native finished second in both diving events during the Texas A&M Fall Invitational on Nov. 18-19. Although she did not win either of the events, Cagnotto lost by less than 10 points in each competition.
She scored 323.75 points on the 1-meter board and followed that with 343.55 points in the 3-meter competition for her final standing.
This season, Cagnotto has recorded the most points in both the 1- and 3-meter events by any C-USA diver.
SMU's Flavia Rigamonti and Rice's Brittany Massengale shared C-USA Swimmer of the Week honors.
Cagnotto and her Cougar teammates return to action Dec. 1-3 when they compete at the Texas Diving Invitational in Austin, Texas. Their swimming counterparts also resume on those dates at the Miami (Ohio) Swimming Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
