Well Cougars what can I say. That was a tough day yesterday. We really did a great job but a little short of the gold. There aren't words to describe how I felt; we started out a little slow and behind, and I really never felt nervous at all. It is probably the first meet where I was calm and confident. The girls were beautiful and amazing throughout the whole meet. They were extremely disappointed not to win, but I think they realize that the silver is not too shabby!!
The stands were jam packed, and the crowds were fabulous. I have heard the TV coverage was great, and someone wrote and told me they thought the TV camera man fancied Vera because he showed her all the time. They just seem to enjoy her diving, and the NBC commentator is a good friend of mine, and she loves the girls' diving so I think we got some special coverage there.
The medal ceremony was a little lack luster and seemed to lack that something special - that just might be because we won the silver. No, really the podium was very small considering what those athletes have to go through to get there - the podium should be huge to showcase them. Maybe it looked better on TV! You will have to let me know.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed their performances and we hope to do well in the upcoming event - Womens 3m individual. We obviously expect to bring home 2 medals in that event! We will see.
Our fans came out with all the flags and screaming for us - they were the best!! Thanks to them for all their support. I think Vera and Yulia really enjoyed having them there. Vera went in the stands which all the crowd enjoyed - people got to see her medal and take pictures which was great.
We are off to Patra for training today and look forward to returning to the Olympic village in 8 days. Stay tuned and enjoy watching the Olympics.
