HOUSTON - University of Houston sophomore Anna Kiess was honored Tuesday as the Conference USA Diver of the Week.
It marked the second consecutive week and the third time during her career that Kiess received the league's weekly award.
A qualifier for the 2004 NCAA Championships as a true freshman, Kiess swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events during a dual-meet loss to C-USA rival TCU on Thursday at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium.
She was the only diver to score more than 300 points in any diving events against the Horned Frogs and set new personal-best and CRWC Natatorium scores on the 1-meter board with 315.38 points.
It was the 19th time in the brief history of Conference USA Swimming and Diving that a Cougar performer was named Diver of the Week.
Kiess and her Cougar teammates return to action on Nov. 12-13 during a road tour through north Louisiana. The trip begins at 6 p.m., Nov. 12 when the Cougars meet Centenary in Shreveport, La., before wrapping up at 11 a.m., Nov. 13 against Louisiana-Monroe.
