Pakhalina Captures Silver Medal At World Championships

Barcelona, Spain - Former University of Houston diver Yulia Pakhalina won a silver medal in the three-meter diving at the FINA World Swimming and Diving Championships with a score of 611.58 points.
Pakhalina finished just six points behind China's Jingjing Guo. Minxia Wu of China was the bronze medalist.
Pakhalina was the 2003 NCAA one-meter and three-meter champion after winning both events at the Conference USA Championships for the second straight year.
This year marked the first time Pakhalina has won a individual medal at world competitions. She won a Gold Medal in synchronized swimming a the the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Austrailia. She will be looking for her second Gold Medal in the event at the FINA World Championships on Sunday.
