Kristian Austin joined the Houston Track and Field staff as the Director of Operations in December 2017. The 2026 season is her ninth with the program. Austin is responsible for managing day-to-day operations for the program, as well as organizing and managing team travel.
Austin received her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Management from LSU in 2016. While earning her degree, Austin worked closely as a Graduate Administrative Assistant for LSU’s Track and Field program. Some of her tasks involved preparing for home meets and special events and maintaining a systematic correspondence with prospective student-athletes.
In 2014, Austin graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University, where she majored in Kinesiology with a minor in Business. Austin competed on the Sam Houston Track and Field team from 2010-2014. A four year letterwinner, she helped the team capture the Outdoor Southland Conference Championship and sweep the Indoor and Outdoor Championships, the first time since 2008.
During her time at Sam Houston, Austin also took part on the Student Athlete Alliance Committee (SAAC). She earned the honors of being on the President’s List, Dean’s List, Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, Who’s Who Among Students, and being in the Golden Key International Honor Society.
