Houston Men’s Track & Field Earns Four Bids to NCAA Championships on Friday

Antrea Mita, Louie Hinchliffe, 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays punch tickets to Hayward Field
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Houston men's track & field program secured four qualifications to the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships at the NCAA West First Round on Friday at McDonnell Field.
Junior Antrea Mita secured the first qualification of the day in the men's high jump. Mita finished seventh overall after clearing 2.20m to qualify for his third NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The men's 4x100-meter relay of graduate Ryan Mulholland, freshman Sean Aigboboh, senior Dakari Charlton and senior Louie Hinchliffe ran the third fastest time in the event with a time of 38.86 to book their ticket to Hayward Field.
Hinchliffe later earned an individual qualification in the 100m. The 2024 NCAA 100m champion posted the fastest time of the day, crossing the finish line in 10.01.
The Cougars closed out the evening, earning the final bid to Eugene in the 4x400-meter relay. Sophomore Damarien Jacobs, graduate Trey East III, sophomore King Taylor and freshman Dominic Hartper finished third in their heat with a time of 3:03.40, a season best and fifth-fastest time in program history.

The Cougars conclude action at the NCAA West First Round on Saturday. Freshman Shieana Hall will compete in the triple jump at 6 p.m., senior Kaycee McCoy and graduate Miracle Thompson in the 100-meter hurdles at 6:15 p.m., and conclude the evening with the women's 4x400-meter relay at 8:45 p.m.
