PREVIEW: Women’s Golf Tees Off at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Houston Women's Golf program continues its fall schedule when it competes in the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club beginning Saturday morning.

Schools will play 18 holes each day starting Saturday morning on the 6,182-yard, par-70 course with the Final Round beginning Monday. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.

The Cougars enter this weekend's tournament after opening the season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M at Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn., on Sept. 7-9. That tournament also served as the debut for new Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Rachel Pollock, who joined Houston this summer following an award-winning career at ULM.

TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 16-team field featuring Texas State, Tulane, Baylor, Tulsa, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Oral Roberts, Iowa State, Arkansas State, Oklahoma, TCU, Georgia, UCF, Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Rachel Pollock, the Cougars will be represented by junior Emilia Väistö, sophomore Sadie Adams, senior Ellen Yates, senior Jackie Gonzalez Howard and senior Daniela Campillo Martinez.

Sophomore Zoe McLean-Tattan will make her Houston debut after transferring from ULM during the summer.

Vaisto was the Cougars' leading performer at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate earlier this month, posting a score of 222. The Sienäjoki, Finland, native shot even-par 72s in each of the final two rounds to pace Houston.

TEE TIMES
For Saturday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Kansas State and Iowa State beginning off No. 1.

Campillo Martinez begins the day at 10:20 a.m. with Gonzalez Howard (10:28 a.m.), Yates (10:36 a.m.), Adams (10:44 a.m.) and Väistö (10:52 a.m.) following. McLean starts her Cougar career at 10:52 a.m., off No. 10.
