Hurst Picks Up Additional Preseason All-America Nod

Offensive lineman lands on Sporting News’ Preseason All-America First Team
HOUSTON – Houston Football offensive lineman Shadre Hurst was named to the Sporting News All-America First Team on Thursday, the publication that dubbed him a Second-Team All-American a year ago.
Hurst, a Sporting News All-American Second Team selection in 2025, rejoined head coach Willie Fritz after beginning his career playing for Fritz at Tulane where he was a two-time All-American Athletic Conference selection and was the top graded offensive lineman for the Green Wave in 2025. The Cartersville, Ga., native was the sixth-highest rated guard nationally a year ago and ninth-highest rated offensive lineman, both by PFF.
Hurst earned Athlon Sports All-America honors and multiple Preseason All-Big 12 Conference honors ahead of the 2026 season. The Birmingham, Ala., native was named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List earlier this week. The award is given to the top interior lineman in college football, irregardless of offense or defense.
