Record 91 Cougars Earn Spring Academic All-Big 12 Honors

IRVING, Texas – A school-record 91 University of Houston student-athletes from baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's track, softball and tennis were named to the 2026 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
The 91 selections are the most by Houston in any Big 12 academic season – fall, winter, or spring — surpassing the fall 2025 total of 55.
Track & Field led the department with 40 honorees (25 women, 15 men), followed by softball with 16 and baseball with 14. An additional 58 Cougars were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.
Aidan Conner, Evelyn Entrekin, Alyssa Gonzales, Valeriia Krokhotina, Ty Lott, Ella Morgan and Aubrey Tupper earned the highly esteemed Dr. Gerald Lage Award. The conference's highest academic honor, the Dr. Gerald Lage Award, recognizes student-athletes who have lettered at least once in their careers and completed at least 90 hours while maintaining a cumulative 3.80 GPA.
To qualify for the Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher and compete in at least 20 percent of contests. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible in the first year of academic residence.
Student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshmen who have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. The student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
