Men’s Golf Competes at Tar Heel Intercollegiate

Cougars tie for 12th at Finley Golf Club
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program wrapped up play at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon.
Competing on the 7,020-yard, par-70 course at Finley Golf Club, the Cougars posted a score of 296 in the Final Round and finished 12th with a 54-hole score of 858.
Junior Chi Chun Chen recorded a score of 214 to tie for 38th and lead the Cougars. Senior Hudson Weibel tied for 43rd at 215 while sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen tied for 49th at 216. Junior Grant Doggett tied for 53rd at 217 while senior Bryant Hiskey II tied for 80th at 228. Playing as an individual, senior Kevin An tied for 84th at 229.
Host and 11th-ranked North Carolina captured the team title with a score of 809 to finish 20 shots ahead of #27 Duke. North Carolina "B" finished third at 829 with #29 Texas A&M (832), Nebraska (838), #42 UNCW (842), East Tennessee State (842), UCF (851), Elon (854), Kennesaw State (856) and Florida Atlantic (856) completing the Top 11.
North Carolina's Niall Sheils Donegan earned medalist honors with a two-day score of 12-under 210 to finish two strokes ahead of teammate Grant Roscich. Duke's Bryan Kim finished third at 202 with Drew Yeagley (203) and Gavin Tiernan (East Tennessee State) tying for fourth at 203.

Following the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, the Cougars take their first steps in the postseason when they tee off at the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Golf Club in Hutchinson, Kan., on April 27-29.
The Cougars will then learn their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show, set to air at 4 p.m., April 29, on Golf Channel.
From there, Houston looks to compete in NCAA Regional play for the sixth consecutive season. NCAA Regionals play will be held May 18-20 at six sites across the country. Those venues include: University of Georgia Golf Course (Athens, Ga.; hosted by Georgia); Bermuda Run Country Club (Bermuda Run, N.C., hosted by Wake Forest); Traditions Club (Bryan, Texas; hosted by Texas A&M); Ohio State Golf Club (Columbus, Ohio; hosted by Ohio State); Trysting Tree Golf Club (Corvallis, Ore., hosted by Oregon State) and Chin Southern Dunes (Maricopa, Ariz.; hosted by Arizona State)
