Nine Cougars to be inducted into the Houston Athletics Hall of Honor including men’s basketball head coach Kelvin Sampson
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Athletics Department announced nine Cougars will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Honor on Oct. 1. The honorees include eight former Houston student-athletes, many of whom went on to have illustrious professional careers, as well as current head men's basketball coach Kelvin Sampson.
The 2026 Hall of Honor class is comprised of Kimble Anders (Football), Siong Ang (Men's Swimming and Diving), Lilly Denoon (Volleyball), Ed Fiori (Men's Golf), Monica Lamb-Powell (Women's Basketball), Audray McMillian (Football), Kelvin Sampson (Men's Basketball), Ollie Taylor (Men's Basketball) and Jessica Valis-Shimek (Softball).
The 2026 honorees are the 24th class to be inducted into the Hall of Honor, the 13th since the Hall was reintroduced in 1998. The current class will bring the membership to 128 outstanding individuals and two teams. The nine honorees include a national champion, six All-Conference honorees who combined for over 10 all-league selections and seven All-America selections that coached or competed in 13 of Houston's conference titles.
This year's Hall of Honor Gala is set for Oct. 1 at the Post Oak Hotel and will include a live and silent auction, dinner and presentation ceremonies. The evening brings together the University's most impactful Cougars, on and off the fields of competition, and honors those whose legacies will forever be etched in the Hall of Honor.
Fans, donors, supporters and former Letterwinners are invited to join in making a true and lasting impact in the lives of University of Houston student-athletes. The proceeds from the event enable Houston Athletics to continue to provide championship resources to 400+ student-athletes and 17 sport programs.
