Track & Field Concludes Action at Big 12 Championship

Houston takes home six top-three finishes on Saturday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Houston Track & Field program concluded Big 12 Indoor Championship action with six top-three finishes and one school record on Saturday inside the Sports Performance Complex.

The men's squad finished tied for fifth place with 57 points alongside BYU and Kansas while the women placed 12th overall with 22 points.
Â
Senior Kaycee McCoy and graduate Miracle Thompson opened the afternoon with the women's 60-meter hurdles. McCoy finished second with a time of 8.11 while Thompson crossed the finish line in 8.43 for eighth place.

In his final Big 12 race, graduate Jamar Marshall Jr. earned third place in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.54.

Graduate Trey East III set a new personal best and moved up to second on Houston's all-time performance list in the men's 400-meter with a time of 45.54 for second place.

Freshman Dominic Harper helped the Cougars score five points with his fourth-place finish in the men's 200-meter, crossing the finish line in 20.79.

Senior Louie Hinchliffe scored two points in the men's 60-meter with a seventh-place finish with a time of 6.66.

The women's 4x400-meter relay of sophomore Carlysia Cresser, junior Michaela Mouton, freshmen Jada Stanford and Kamree Wolridge ran a season-best time of 3:34.89 to place sixth. Their time ranks as the fourth fastest time in program history.

Houston ended the day with a second-place finish in the men's 4x400-meter relay. Sophomores Damarien Jacobs and King Taylor teamed up with East III and Harper to combine for a season-best time of 3:05.70, the third fastest time in school history.

FIELD EVENTS
Graduate Grant Levesque and sophomore Owen Levesque helped the Cougars score six points in the men's heptathlon. Grant Levesque finished fourth overall with 5,688 points while his younger brother, Owen Levesque, posted a personal best and fourth-best mark in program history with 5,527 points for eighth place. Â

Sophomore Cleo Agyepong took home silver in the women's shot put with a mark of 16.34m while sophomore Sydney Freeman earned eighth place with her mark of 14.58m.

On the men's side, junior Cordell Nwokeji posted a mark of 18.49m to place third, the best Big 12 finish of his career. Â

Freshman Shieana Hall set a new school record in the women's triple jump. Hall posted a mark of 13.02m on her fourth attempt to become the school record holder. She is the first Cougar on the women's side to record a jump over 13 meters.
