Freshman Maisy Woloszyn Wins First Big 12 Conference Championship Award for Houston Swimming & Diving

Houston finishes Day Three in third with 569.5 points
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Maisy Woloszyn took home the University of Houston Swimming & Diving team's first individual Big 12 Conference Championship in the 3-meter springboard to highlight day three of the Big 12 Conference Championships on Thursday inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.Â

Houston finished the day with a total of 568.5 points. #17 Arizona State stayed in the top spot with 960.5 points followed by #23 Arizona (690.5), Utah (463), Cincinnati (463), Kansas (421.5), TCU (415), BYU (310), Iowa State (300) and WVU (222).Â

Senior Noor El Gendy started off day three in the A-Finals of the 100-yard butterfly landing a seventh-place finish with a time of 53.70.

Six Cougars advanced to the 400-yard individual medley final with freshman Helen Randolph securing the win in the C-Final with a time of 4:19.56 (17th overall).Â

Junior Sydney Nethercutt finished the A-Finals in third with a new personal best time of 4:16.57. Redshirt senior Alondra Ortiz landed in seventh (4:22.36).

Additionally, senior Landry Hadder touched the wall in 19th overall (4:22.30) followed by sophomore Mariana Cote in 21st (4:23.53) and sophomore Kristina DiPietro in 24th (4:26.62).Â

 A trio of Cougars advanced to the B-Finals of the 200-yard freestyle with sophomore Sieanna Bruner touching the wall in third in the event (1:48.02). Senior Liya Goupil secured fifth place (1:48.27) with teammate Elizabeth Jimenez coming in sixth (1:48.57). Â

Diving finished out the day with the win from Woloszyn. Junior Michelle McLeod finished the 3-meter competition in sixth (284.70) with sophomore Caroline Roelen coming in seventh (272.00).

The Cougars begin day four of competition inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Friday with prelims starting at 9 a.m. CT and finals beginning at 5 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.Â
