
Quarterback Named to Third Watch List in Two Days

Weigman named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list
HOUSTON – University of Houston quarterback Conner Weigman has been named to his third watch list in the last two days with the Cypress, Texas native being named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list on Wednesday.

Weigman is one of 102 players from 9 conferences and 1 independent (American, ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Conference USA, Mountain West, Pac-12, SEC, and Sun Belt) to be named to the watch list.

The first-year signal caller for the Cougars is one of 31 quarterbacks on the watch list and is the ninth-best transfer quarterback in the 2025 class according to 247Sports, joined the Cougars following three seasons at Texas A&M. In 15 career games, he's posted a 219-for-365 (60 percent) mark with 2,694 yards and 19 touchdowns. He's also added 261 yards on the ground with two touchdowns.

In his first collegiate start, he set the Aggies' true freshman record with 338 yards with a 28-for-44 line that included four touchdowns against #6 Auburn. Finishing the year with 896 passing yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions in five games, he was named an ESPN Freshman All-American in 2022.

His success continued into his redshirt freshman season in 2023, where he claimed the team's starting quarterback role before being sidelined with a season-ending injury in the fourth game of the season. Overall, he completed the year with 82 completions on 119 attempts (69 percent) for 979 yards and eight touchdowns. Weigman's first career interception came six games into his collegiate career, before which he had tallied a 13-0 TD-INT ratio.

Closing out his time with the Aggies in 2024, Weigman played in six games and amassed 819 yards and three touchdowns.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or currently playing at Texas D1 four-year college.
