
PREVIEW: Women’s Golf Ready for Big 12 Championships

Three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Tuesday morning at The Clubs at Houston Oaks

The Cougars will play 18 holes each day through Thursday on the 6,249-yard, par-71 course. The winner of the league's annual postseason event earns an automatic bid to NCAA Regional play, set for May 5-7 at one of six sites across the nation.
Houston enters the Big 12 Championship after sweeping the team and individual titles at the Veritex Bank Collegiate at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas earlier this month. With their third team title of the year, the Cougars tied the 2015-16 team for the school single-season record.
Earning medalist honors at that event, junior Moa Svedenskiold won the third title of her collegiate career and joined All-American Leonie Harm as the only Cougars to win 3+ tournaments in program history.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Lasprilla, the Cougars will be represented by Svedenskiold, senior Hyeonji Kang, junior Natalie Saint Germain, junior Alexa Saldana, sophomore Maelyn Kim and freshman Annika Ishiyama.
This season, Svedenskiold leads the Cougars with a 71.62 scoring average and 16 rounds of par or better. Her scoring total is the second lowest in Houston single-season history and trails only her 71.47 mark during the 2023-24 season.
Saint Germain stands among on the team with a 72.25 average and is tied with Saldana and Kim for second on the with 14 round of par or lower in 2024-25.

Houston will compete in a 14-team field featuring #19 Arizona, #8 Arizona State, #37 Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado, #29 Iowa State, #22 Kansas, #28 Kansas State, #30 Oklahoma State, #15 TCU, Texas Tech and #31 UCF
TEE TIMES
For Tuesday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Kansas and Kansas State beginning at 8:20 a.m., off No. 10.

UP NEXT
Following the Big 12 Championships, the Cougars will learn their NCAA postseason destination during the NCAA Selection Show. That show will air at Noon, April 23, on Golf Channel
The Cougars will compete at one of six NCAA Regional sites across the nation. Those six sites include Birdwood Golf Course (Charlottesville, Va., hosted by Virginia); Scarlet Course – OSU Golf Club (Columbus, Ohio., hosted by Ohio State); Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club (Golf Canyon, Arizona., hosted by Arizona State); University Club of Kentucky (Lexington, Ky., hosted by Kentucky); Rawls Course (Lubbock, Texas, hosted by Texas Tech); Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma).
The Top-Five teams at each NCAA Regional site advance to the NCAA Championships, set for Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., on May 16-21.
