
Wolfgang Glawe Leads Men’s Golf at Valspar Collegiate Invitational

Senior fires bogey-free 66 in Final Round to rise to 12th at Floridian National Golf Club
PALM CITY, Fla. – University of Houston senior Wolfgang Glawe fired a bogey-free 65 to lower his score for the second straight round and tied for 12th at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
Competing on the 7,088-yard, par-71 course at Floridian National Golf Club, Glawe drained a team-high five birdies and finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 6-under 207. It was his fourth Top-20 finish of the season.
As a team, the Cougars posted their low round of the tournament with a 279 Tuesday and finished 13th with a two-day total of 848 in a field which featured five of the nation's Top-10 teams with each of the Top Three, eight of the Top 20 and 11 of the Top 25.
Starting his day off No. 12, Glawe quickly moved under par with a birdie on his first hole and moved 2-under with another birdie on the par-5 15th hole.
Following seven straight pars, the St. Leon-Rot, Germany, native sank three birdies in a four-hole stretch, including back-to-back efforts on Nos. 7-8, before closing the tournament with three straight pars. He opened the first two rounds of the Valspar Collegiate Invitational with scores of 72-69
Senior Jacob Borow joined Glawe under par Tuesday and posted his third straight round of par or lower with a 69 to tie for 25th at 3-under 210.
Junior Hudson Weibel tied for 49th at 215 while senior Laurenz Schiergen tied for 53rd at 216. Sophomore Chi Chun Chen tied for 57th at 217.
Playing as individuals, junior Bryant Hiskey II tied for 84th at 226 while sophomore Grant Doggett finished 87th at 227. Freshman Hsuan-Yi Chen finished 91st at 234.
#2 Texas captured the team championship with a score of 36-under 816 and finished 13 strokes ahead of #2 Arizona State. The Longhorns' total set a 54-hole team-record low and topped the previous low of 818 by Pepperdine in 2022.
North Carolina's Daniel Ford earned medalist honors with a score of 195, finishing two strokes ahead of Oklahoma's Jase Summy and Texas' Daniel Bennett, and enjoyed a tournament record of his own.
Ford set the 54-hole individual-record low with his score of 18-under 195. His total topped the previous low of 14-under 199 by Luke Clanton, Florida State (March 25-26, 2024); Dylan Menante, Pepperdine (March 28-29, 2022); and Matthew Wolff, Oklahoma State (March 17-19, 2019).
#14 Florida State finished third at 830 with #7 Oklahoma (831), #1 Auburn (832), #17 Duke (833), #23 Texas A&M (836), #31 South Florida (838), #19 Vanderbilt (843) and Arkansas (844) completing the Top 10.
Duke's Kelly Chinn, Auburn's Jackson Koivun and Wilhelm Ryding of South Florida tied for fourth at 11-under 202 while Florida State's Luke Clanton finished seventh at 203.
