PROVO, Utah – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program opens its two-game road swing against BYU at 8 p.m., CT Wednesday inside the Marriott Center.

THE GAME
- Houston opens its two-game road swing against BYU on Wednesday in Provo, Utah.
- Both teams are in search of their first Big 12 win of the season.
- Houston leads the all-time series, 3-1.
- During its inaugural year in the Big 12, Houston and BYU split its home and home series.
- Houston won its first Big 12 game in program history against BYU, 79-69 inside the Fertitta Center (Jan. 10, 2024).
- BYU won the second meeting against Houston, 64-54 inside the Marriott Center (Feb. 28, 2024).
- A double-double by fifth-year forward Peyton McFarland and a career-high 10 assists by graduate guard Ashley Chevalier weren't enough as Houston fell 69-60 against Arizona State inside Fertitta Center on Saturday afternoon.
- Houston had three players score in double figures with McFarland leading the pack with 18 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. This marked her first double-double with the Cougars and third of her career. Redshirt sophomore guard Gigi Cooke scored 13 points and sophomore guard Summer Bostock tied her career-high 11 points.
- Graduate guard Laila Blair did not see action due to a thigh contusion.
- The Cougars return six players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Avalon Miller, Maliyah Johnson, Peyton McFarland and All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention, Laila Blair.
- Blair (212) has her eyes set on Houston's all-time 3-pointers made record of 226.
- On Dec. 4, 2024, Blair moved up to fourth on Houston's all-time scoring list with 18 points against UT Arlington. She is 17 points away from moving up to third and surpassing Sonya Watkins with 1,752 points.
- Houston welcomes five transfers this season including Leilani Augmon (Troy), Summer Bostock (Maryland), Ashley Chevalier (Texas Tech), Eylia Love (Louisville) and Kateri Poole (LSU).
- Avalon Miller (Achilles), Maliyah Johnson (ACL) and Kateri Poole (ACL) will miss the season after suffering season-ending injuries leaving Houston with nine available players.
- Assistant Coach Chynna Grimes missed the first 12 games of the season after giving birth to her daughter, Capri, on Nov. 4.
