Austyn Reily, Wolfgang Glawe tie for 14th to lead Cougars; Chen joins them among Top-20 leaders
PHOENIX, Ariz. – For the third straight round, the University of Houston Men's Golf program posted a sub-par score to finish fifth at the Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars finished with a team total of 282 in Saturday's Final Round and ended the two-day, 54-hole event with a total of 8-under 844 on the 7,551-yard, par-71 course.
The tournament featured five of the nation's Top-15 teams and 10 of the Top 50 programs.
Super senior Austyn Reily posted the Cougars' low round of the day with a 69, thanks to a pair of eagles, and tied with junior Wolfgang Glawe for team-best honors at 3-under 210 to tie for 14th.
In the Final Round, Reily endured a slow start, which saw him with three bogeys in his first four holes. Fortunately, the Pottsboro, Texas, native returned to even par with an eagle-3 on the 570-yard ninth hole and added his second eagle in four holes on the 302-yard, par-4 12th hole.
Reily added his final birdie of the tournament at No. 13 to earn his third Top-20 finish of the season.
Freshman Chi Chun Chen recorded his second straight sub-par round with a 70 on Saturday and tied for 19th at 211. Junior Jacob Borow tied for 34th at 214 while junior Laurenz Schiergen tied for 83rd at 222. Playing as an individual, freshman Grant Doggett tied for 94th at 228.
