Borow, Doggett Leads Men’s Golf Individuals on Monday

Borow tied for sixth after first day at Houston Classic; Doggett tied for 12th at Bentwater Intercollegiate
MONTGOMERY & HUMBLE, Texas – University of Houston senior Jacob Borow and freshman Grant Doggett led the Cougars as individuals in a pair of Greater Houston-area tournaments recently added to the program's spring schedule on Monday.
Borow was tied for sixth with a score of 149 at the Houston Classic at Golf Club of Houston while Doggett was tied for 12th with a score of 146 at the Bentwater Intercollegiate at Bentwater Country Club.
The Final Rounds of both tournaments will be played Tuesday morning.
HOUSTON CLASSIC
Borow posted a 74 in the morning and followed with a 75 in the afternoon session to lead Houston on the 6,945-yard, par-72 course.
Sophomore Bryant Hiskey II was tied for 10th at 150 while sophomore Hudson Weibel was tied for 30th at 155. Junior Drew Murdock was tied for 41st at 158.
Midwestern State's Seth Bearden held the first-day individual lead at 143 while Central Oklahoma's Jordan Wilson stood in second at 144.
BENTWATER INTERCOLLEGIATE
Opening the tournament with a 75 in the morning, Doggett posted a 71 in the afternoon, thanks to five birdies, on the Miller Course.
Starting off No. 16 on the 6,788-yard, par-71 court, the Beach City, Texas, native drained three straight birdies to begin the Second Round and added additional birdies at No. 3 and No. 7 to lead the Cougars.
Freshman Chi Chun Chen posted a 71 in the First Round and was tied for 22nd at 147 while junior Laurenz Schiergen was tied for 54th at 154.
Tarleton's Max Bengtsson and Stephen F. Austin's Cameron Hubbard were tied for first at 139 while Josh German (Sam Houston) and Chriz Berzina (TCU) were tied for third at 140.
