Women’s Golf Ready for Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS – The University of Houston Women's Golf program returns to action when it tees off at the Trinity Forest Invitational, beginning Monday morning at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The Cougars will play 36 holes with an 8 a.m., shotgun start Monday with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday morning on the 6,464-yard, par-72 course.
The #43 Cougars enter this week's tournament after finishing 15th at their own ICON Invitational on Feb. 27-28 at Golf Club of Houston. Freshman Moa Svedenskiold posted a Final-Round 68 to finish with a score of 2-under 214 to lead the Cougars and tie for 28th.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm, the Cougars will be represented by freshman Moa Svedenskiold, super senior Annie Kim, junior Nicole Abelar, freshman Alexa Saldana and freshman Natalie Saint Germain. Super senior Becca Earl will compete as an individual.
Svedenskiold leads the Cougars with a 71.78 scoring average and 11 rounds of par or lower in 18 total rounds. The Halmstad, Sweden, native also leads the Cougars with six rounds in the 60 became the first freshman student-athlete in program history win a tournament individual title when she shared medalist honors at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 23-24, 2022.
Saint Germain stands second among the Cougars with a 72.56 scoring average and seven rounds of par or better. The Prague native has posted four Top-10-finishes this season and set a school record with a 64 in the Final Round at the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 26, 2022.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Kent State, Tulsa, Tulane, South Florida, UTSA, Cal Poly, UIW, Texas State, Fresno State, Seattle, Southern Miss, UAB, Dallas Baptist, Texas Tech, Baylor and host SMU
PAIRINGS
For Monday's first day, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from SMU, Kent State and Tulsa.
Svedenskiold will start the day off No. 1 at 8 a.m, Monday, with Kim (No. 2), Abelar (No. 3), Saldana (No. 4) and Saint Germain (first group off No. 5) following. Earl will compete in the second group off No. 5.

UP NEXT
Following the Trinity Forest Invitational, the Cougars head west to compete at the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Country Club in Saddlebrooke, Ariz., on March 17-19.
From there, the Cougars wrap up their regular season when they tee off at The Bruzzy in Ardmore, Okla., on April 1-2.
