The Cougars powered to their eighth straight sweep in a 3-0 win over Memphis
HOUSTON – The No. 23 University of Houston volleyball team posted a program-record 18th consecutive win, earning a straight-set win over Memphis on Friday night in the Fertitta Center. The streak surpasses a 17-match stretch without a loss in 1994, a team that went on to reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.
Houston (26-2, 17-0 The American) hasn't lost a match since Sept. 15 and has only lost twice, both losses coming to teams now ranked in the AVCA Poll. The Cougars' 18-match winning streak is the third-longest active streak in the country. Houston also pushes a win streak against Memphis (17-13, 7-10 The American) to nine games.
Sophomore Kellen Morin paced the team with a .818 hitting percentage, posting nine kills on 11 attempts with no errors. Senior Abbie Jackson led the match with 11 kills, extending her streak of matches with 10-or-more kills to 15.
Both senior Morgan Janda and senior Abbie Jackson posted double-doubles in the win. Janda earned her fifth of the season and fourth in the last five matches with a match-leading 23 assists and 10 digs, while Jackson tallied her eighth of the year with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Four Cougars posted double-digit digs in the match, with junior Kate Georgiades' 23 and graduate Kennedy Warren's 10 joining the Janda and Jackson's 10 dig performances.

SET TWO
Houston again wasted no time in taking a lead in the second frame, starting the set with a 4-0 run giving Houston another lead that they never gave up in the set. The Cougars posted multiple runs throughout the second set, holding Memphis to 11-for-25 (44 percent) on side-outs to earn set-point at 24-18.
