HUMBLE, Texas – University of Houston senior Laurence Crea captured the individual title at the Lone Star Invitational with a 54-hole score of 218 at Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday afternoon.
Crea stood in second following the first day after shooting back-to-back 71s Monday. Texas State's Dalton Hankamer and Clayton finished second and third at 219 and 220, respectively.
This was the third title of Crea's collegiate career but his first with the Cougars. He won back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference championships with Prairie View A&M in 2018 and 2019.
The Lone Star Invitational was a recent addition to the Cougars' schedule with five student-athletes competing as individuals on the 7,067-yard, par-72 course.
Freshman Hanseung Chang finished fourth at the event with a score of 221, while senior Logan Young finished fifth at 222. Junior Braxton Watkins finished sixth at 225, while redshirt freshman Niko Nebout – who was making his UH debut – finished 11th at 228.
