Cougars’ undefeated conference run comes to an end
WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Houston Volleyball team saw its undefeated run in conference come to an end Friday night, as the Cougars fell to Wichita State by a score of 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25).

Friday snapped Houston's eight-match winning streak in American Athletic Conference play, as the Cougars now sit at 12-5 on the year and 8-1 in league action. Wichita State moves to 9-7 this season and 4-5 in The American.

Houston saw a pair of Cougars reach the double-digit kill mark in sophomore Abbie Jackson, who led the team with 15 on the night, and junior Kortlyn Henderson, who posted 13 kills. Jackson also tallied 14 digs against the Shockers, marking her fifth double-double of the season.

Jackson was one of four players to record 10-plus digs for Houston, with junior Torie Frederick leading the way with a match-high 25. Senior Abby Irvine (14) and freshman Annie Cooke (11) rounded out those to surpass the double-digit dig plateau.

Cooke also handed out 35 assists, marking her fifth double-double of the year as well. This is the first time Houston has had multiple-players record doubled-doubles in the same match this season.

Houston competes in its regular season finale when the Cougars square up with the Shockers at 1 p.m., Saturday.
