Set 1
- Houston maintained a steady lead throughout much of the first part of the set until Texas State managed to claw its way back and tie the score at nine.
- The two sides then traded points for nearly the rest of the way right before the Bobcats closed out the set scoring four of the final five points to win 25-22 and take a 1-0 match lead.
- After Texas State built itself a five-point lead, Houston went on a 3-0 run to close the gap to a pair and trim the score to 13-11.
- The Cougars kept themselves within arm's length from that point forward, but the Bobcats never surrendered the lead, winning 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
- Neither team held more than a one-point lead until a kill from sophomore Abbie Jackson put Houston in front 13-11.
- Texas State tied the score at 15, but Houston responded with a 4-1 run to go up 19-16, which the Cougars never looked back from in route to the 25-21 set win to force a fourth frame.
- The Bobcats jumped out to a quick, six-point advantage, which the Cougars were never able to recover from, as Texas State went on to win 25-17 to seal the 3-1 match win.
