- Last time out, the Cougars continued their strong start to American Athletic Conference action, sweeping the season series with Tulsa for the first time since 2008. The Cougars' pair of wins over the Golden Hurricane also marked the second year in a row Houston has posted a 6-0 mark to start to conference play.
- Starting strong has been no problem for the Cougars this season, as Houston has held a 2-0 match lead in all but three of its contests. Houston is 15-3 when leading after two sets in the David Rehr era.
- Houston is the first school to sweep the conference's weekly accolades since SMU on Oct. 24, 2016.
- After averaging 6.50 digs per set against Tulsa, junior libero Torie Frederick was named The American Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. She collected back-to-back 20-dig outings, including a career-high 32 digs in the first win over Tulsa, tying for third-most in program history in a four-set match.
- Following consecutive 50-assist performances, averaging 14.00 helpers per set, freshman setter Annie Cooke earned The American Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. She is the first setter to win the accolade since Aug. 28, 2017. Cooke's 58 assists to start the week was followed by another 54. Each outing sits first and second this season for most assists by a player in the conference in a four-set match.
