FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program stood in 10th place following the First Round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday evening.
The Cougars posted a score of 302 in the First Round on the 7,700-yard, par-72 course at Blessings Golf Club.
Host Arkansas held the first-day lead at 278 with Mississippi in second at 285. Illinois (286), Texas Tech (288) and Tennessee (288) rounded out the Top-Five leaders.
Seniors Alexander Frances and Braxton Watkins and redshirt freshman Jacob Borow each finished the first 18 holes with 75s to tie for 31st and lead the Cougars. Senior Andrew Gibson was tied for 41st at 77, while junior Austyn Reily was tied for 48th at 79.
Individually, Arkansas' Luke Long held the first-day lead with a 67. Mateo Fernandez De Oliveira (Arkansas), Chase Sienkiewicz (Arizona), Austin Greaser (North Carolina), Segundo Pinto (Arkansas) and Piercen Hunt (Illinois) were tied for second at 69.
The tournament continues with the Second Round on Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes to be played Wednesday.
This is the third of four fall tournaments for the Cougars.

UP NEXT
Following the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, the Cougars close out their fall schedule when they compete at The Williams Cup presented by Stitch Golf on Oct. 25-26 at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
From there, Houston will take its winter break before opening the spring season at the Border Olympics on Feb. 14-15 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
