Cougars return to action after two-week hiatus
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Cross Country team will head to Lake Charles, La. for the Lake Charles Toyota Stampede at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex on Saturday.
ABOUT THE LAKE CHARLES TOYOTA STAMPEDE
The Lake Charles Toyota Stampede will begin with the women's 5,000-meter race at 8:30 a.m. and be immediately followed by the four-mile race at 9 a.m.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Houston returns to action for its second meet of the season after a two-week layoff. Last time the Cougars competed, the team posted a combined six top-10 finishes as the women's squad secured a team title at the Rice Invitational.
The Houston Women are currently are sitting at No. 4 in the South Central Region for the second straight week. Meredith Sorenson, Jahnavi Schneider, Darby Gauntt and Regan Lobodzinski will hit the course this week and look to replicate their top-10 finishes from their last outing.
On the men's side Devin Vallejo-Bannister and Jemal Wote look to have continued success after finishing among the top-10 at Rice.
UP NEXT
Houston will head to California for the Santa Clara Invite on Oct. 19 for one last test before the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 1.
