Fahey leads men with top-10 finish; three women place in top 20
Due to an unfortunate timing malfunction, results were not available until late in the evening.
Results
HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Men's and Women's Cross Country teams participated in the Rice Invitational, Friday night on the Rice University campus.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The women opened the meet with a third-place showing in the 4,000-meter race.
Cougars Meredith Sorensen and Britani Gonzales came in at 14:57.0 and 15:00.7, respectively, to place 16th and 17th. Senior Jennifer Dunlap also finished in the top-20 with a 15:02.8 showing to take 19th.
Freshman Regan Lobodzinski finished 21st with a time of 15:10.4, while junior Jahnavi Schneider took 23rd in 15:13.7 to round out the scoring.
On the men's side, the Cougars posted a runner-up finish in the four-mile race.
Sophomore Devin Fahey led the way with a time of 20:33.9 to finish eighth overall.
Freshman Gabriel Armijo crossed the line in 20:45.9 to take 10th, while freshman Devin Vallejo-Bannister was 13th with a time of 20:52.6.
Houston's Nicholas Fernandes and Cameron Laverty wrapped up the scoring in 21:04.5 and 21:07.6 to take 22nd and 25th.

The Cougars return to action on Sept. 22 at the Texas A&M Invitational.
