CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico â€" The University of Houston Men's Golf program stood in a tie for 11th place Sunday after posting a team score of 293 during the First Round of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate.
Competing against field, which features 11 of the nation's top-50 programs, junior Michael Perras and sophomore Matt Williams each posted 72s on the 6,928-yard, par-71 layout at Querencia Golf Club to tie for 34th and lead the Cougars.
Junior Papito Gonzalez was tied for 46th with a 74, while senior Matt Scobie and redshirt freshman George Gardner each tied for 55th with 75s. Competing as an individual, senior Emmett Oh joined Scobie and Gardner with a 75.
No. 10 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Texas held the First-Round team lead at 273, while No. 18 Wake Forest was in third at 277. No. 11 Baylor (281), No. 5 Georgia (281), No. 46 Washington (282), No. 30 Florida State (288), No. 29 Mississippi (288), USF (289) and No. 26 Arkansas rounded out the top-10 leaders.
Wake Forest's Paul McBride enjoyed a 65 in Sunday's First Round to hold the individual lead. Texas' Steven Chervony was in second with a 66, while No. 15 Doug Ghim (Texas), No. 74 Braden Thornberry (Mississippi), Cristian DiMarco (USF) and Garrett May (Baylor) were tied for third at 67.

QUERENCIA CABO COLLEGIATE SECOND-ROUND TEE TIMES
Monday's Second Round begins with a 10 a.m. (CST) shotgun start. The Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from USF, Arkansas and Duke.
Perras begins the day at 11:30 a.m., off No. 10 with Matt Williams (11:30 a.m., off No. 11), Gonzalez (11:48 a.m., off No. 12), Scobie (11:57 a.m., off No. 13) and Gardner (12:06 p.m., off No. 14). Oh begins at 12:42 p.m., in the second group off No. 17.
UP NEXT
Following the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola, the Cougars play host to another tournament when they participate at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Feb. 26-28 at Querencia Golf Club in San Jose, Cabo, Mexico.
From there, Houston will host the Border Olympics on March 10-11 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
