HUMBLE, Texas â€" University of Houston senior Matt Scobie posted his second straight sub-par round on Saturday afternoon and stood in a tie for sixth at 4-under 140 to lead the Cougars during the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca Cola.
Competing on the 7,067-yard, par-72 course at Golf Club of Houston, Scobie overcame three bogeys in a four-hole stretch during his first seven holes in Saturday's Second Round. The Ajax, Ontario, native rallied with four birdies over his next nine holes to move into the top-10 leaders.
Scobie drained birdies on each of his last two holes during the completion of the First Round on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Cougars stood in third at 6-under 570. No. 13 Baylor held the second-day lead at 552, thanks to a 20-under 268 team total in the Second Round, with No. 1 Vanderbilt in second at 566. Following the Cougars, No. 21 Auburn (573), Rice (573), No. 39 South Carolina (574), McNeese State (576), Southeastern Louisiana (576), Louisiana Tech (582) and UTSA (584) rounded out the top-10 leaders.
Baylor teammates Cooper Dossey, Garrett May and Braden Bailey held the 1-2-3 positions on the individual leaderboard. Dossey led the way at 10-under 134 with May (137) and Bailey (138) following.
Nine teams hit the course early Saturday morning to complete their First Rounds. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was delayed for two-and-hours midway through Friday's First Round. Played resumed later in the afternoon, but darkness prevented half of the 17-team field from completing its first 18 holes.
Juniors Michael Perras and Papito Gonzalez were each tied for 15th at 1-under 143. Perras finished his First Round with a 73 but bounced back in the Second Round to post a 70, thanks to five birdies.
Gonzalez made two birdies during his final three holes to finish the First Round with a 70 and endured a challenging final three holes in the Second Round to join Perras among the top-20 leaders.
Sophomore Matt Williams closed out his First Round with a 71 and was tied for 25th at even-par 144, while senior Emmett Oh was tied for 65th at 150.
Competing as individuals, redshirt freshman Zach Tracy posted the team's lowest round score the day with a 69 in the Second Round and was tied for 45th at 146. The Houston native enjoyed a bogey-free Second Round with three birdies.
Redshirt freshman George Gardner was tied for 55th at 148.

FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes, beginning at 8 a.m., Sunday. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.
The Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Vanderbilt and Baylor, beginning at 9:28 a.m., Sunday, off No. 1.
Oh will start the Cougars' Final Round at 9:28 a.m., with Williams (9:36 a.m.), Gonzalez (9:44 a.m.), Perras (9:52 a.m.) and Scobie (10 a.m.) following. As individuals, Tracy begins at 8 a.m., off No. 1, while Gardner begins at 8 a.m., off No. 10.
ALL-AMERICAN INTERCOLLEGIATE PRESENTED by COCA-COLA HISTORY
For years, the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola ranked as one of the nation's premier collegiate tournaments, featuring some of the country's top student-athletes and teams.
The tournament was played every season from 1955 to 1990. After a one-year break in 1992, the tournament picked up and was played again from 1992 to 1997. The All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola resumed in 2006 and was played each season through the 2008-09 campaign.
This marks the second straight season in which the Cougars have hosted this tournament. A year ago, Arkansas captured the team title with a score of 9-under 855 with Razorback Taylor Moore earning medalist honors at 9-under 207.
The Cougars lead the way in their tournament with 23 team titles and 20 individual championships during its history
UP NEXT
Following the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola, the Cougars play host to another tournament when they participate at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Feb. 26-28 at Querencia Golf Club in San Jose, Cabo, Mexico.
From there, Houston will host the Border Olympics on March 10-11 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
