HOUSTON â€" Former The Woodlands High School star Allie Andersen will join the University of Houston Women's Golf program after transferring from Colorado State and signing a scholarship agreement with the Cougars.
Andersen, who stands 5-foot-9, will compete as a junior under Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell for the 2016-17 season and have two years of eligibility remaining.
Allie is a well-rounded player and will bring a lot of experience to our program. She does everything really well." Chadwell said. "She had a good two years at Colorado State and has the opportunity to step in and play quickly here."
Before joining the Cougars, Andersen spent her first two seasons at Colorado State, where she was one of the Rams' leading players. As a sophomore in 2015-16, she ranked second on the team with a 74.30 scoring average and tied for fifth at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
Andersen also enjoyed a career-low 68 in the Second Round at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown during the fall season.
She was one of only two players to compete in all 10 events as a freshman during the 2014-15 season and posted three-top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place showing at the Mountain West Championships.
Andersen was a 2014 graduate from The Woodlands High School. As a senior, she led the Highlanders to a third-place finish at the Texas State Championships and was a four-year letterwinner.
Andersen joins West Linn (Ore.) High product Amanda Elich as Houston newcomers for the 2016-17 season.
Under Chadwell's leadership, the Cougars recently completed its third full season. Houston captured the American Athletic Conference championships at Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club in April in only the second year of team competition and qualified for the NCAA Regionals for the second straight season.
Although the Cougars fell two strokes shy of advancing to the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history, freshman Leonie Harm tied for seventh at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional and competed as an individual at the 2016 NCAA Championships.
