BATON ROUGE, La. -- University of Houston sophomore Yuka Kajiki posted an even-par 72 to lead the Cougars during the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Second Round at University Club on Friday afternoon.
Kajiki, who recently became a two-time All-American Athletic Conference selection, enjoyed the team's low round Friday and moved into a tie for 16th in the overall standings at 146. The Hiroshima, Japan native played steady throughout the round, sinking a pair of birdies along the way.
Starting the day with seven straight pars, Kajiki enjoyed her first birdie on the 155-yard, par-3 eighth hole but returned to even par with a bogey on No. 9 to cap her front nine.
She returned to under par with a birdie on the par-5 11th hole and closed out the round with six pars and only a bogey on No. 15 to blemish her scorecard.
As a team, the Cougars posted a score of 300 on Friday to slip into eighth place with a 36-hole total of 595.
