Gibbons was one of five Cougars to stand among the top-11 individual leaders and was tied for second at 4-under-par 140. Sophomore Michael Perras joined Gibbons in a tie for second with a score of 140, thanks to a Second-Round 67, while redshirt freshman Matt Williams was tied for sixth at 142 after opening the tournament with a 68.
Junior Matt Dunn and redshirt freshman Logan Davis were tied for 11th with scores of 145.
After posting a team score of 287 in the morning round on the 7,161-yard, par-72 course at Cypresswood Golf Club, the Cougars bettered that score by 11 strokes to 276 and held an 9-stroke advantage over host Houston Baptist with a score of 563.
Central Arkansas (583), Weber State (586), Oral Roberts (587) and Nicholls State (587) rounded out the top-6 team leaders.
After opening the tournament with a 74, Gibbons played flawlessly in the afternoon round to set a career low. Starting the Second Round on No. 2, the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, native sank three birdies in a 4-hole stretch on Nos. 6-9 and added back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13.
Gibbons drained his sixth and final birdie of the round on No. 18 and capped a busy day with a par on No. 1 to surge into a tie for second on the individual leaderboard.
Perras started his tournament with a 73 in the morning session but rallied in the afternoon round. The Deer Park, Texas, native birdied No. 5 and added an eagle on the par-5 seventh hole with another birdie to follow on No. 8. He opened his back nine with another birdie on No. 10 and, after his lone bogey of the day on No. 16, rebounded with his final birdie on the par-5 18th hole to join the tie for second.
Dunn posted a 75 in the First Round but fired a 70 in the afternoon session, thanks to six birdies and was tied for 13th at 145. Davis was steady throughout both rounds, opening with a 72 and shooting a 73 in the afternoon to tie for 13th with Dunn.
Making his collegiate debut and competing as an individual, redshirt freshman Jacob Veerman was tied for 73rd at 158.
Houston Baptist's Carlos Trevino held the individual lead with a score of 8-under-par 136. Perras and Gibbons were joined in second with Abilene Christian's Robert Johnson with ACU's Dillon Vaughn standing fifth at 141.
Querencia Cabo Collegiate
 The University of Houston Men's Golf program stood in 14th place with the completion of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate Second Round on Monday afternoon.
Competing on the 6,928-yard, par-71 course at Los Cabos Querencia, the Cougars fired a team score of 294 for a 36-hole total of 586.
No. 11 Georgia posted a team score of 16-under-par 268 to take the Second Round lead with a score of 549, finishing eight strokes ahead of No. 30 USF. No. 7 Stanford (564), No. 34 Baylor (564) and No. 14 California (566) rounded out the top-5 team leaders.
Junior Emmett Oh and sophomore Alan De Bondt each recorded even-par 72s for the Cougars' lowest rounds of the day. Oh endured a tough start and was at 3-over-par through his first eight holes. However, the Calgary, Alberta, Canada, native rallied with three straight birdies on Nos. 4-7 and added his fourth and final birdie of the day on No. 9 to move into a tie for 58th overall with a score of 150.
De Bondt finished his round with three birdies and added an eagle on the 539-yard, par-5 15th hole and was tied for 45th at 147.
Senior Vincent Martino led the Cougars with a two-round score of 145 and was tied for 36th. Sophomore Papito Gonzalez, who earned a pair of top-3 finishes a week ago, was tied for 39th at 146, while senior All-American Blair Hamilton was tied for 64th at 152.
Arkansas' Taylor Moore and Aksel Olsen of USF were tied for the individual lead at 7-under-par 135. Georgia's Sepp Straka stood in third at 136, while Georgia's Lee McCoy and Chase Koepka of USF were tied for fourth at 137.
The tournament consists of an elite-15 team field, which features three of the nation's top-10 and seven of the top-20 programs.
CMI FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
The Colin Montgomerie Final Round begins with split-tee starts off No. 1 and No. 10 on Tuesday morning. The Cougars will compete in threesomes with student-athletes from Houston Baptist and Central Arkansas and start their rounds off No. 1.

Dunn starts the day at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, with Davis (9:39 a.m.), Williams (9:48 a.m.), Gibbons (9:57 a.m.) and Perras (10:06 a.m.) following. Veerman begins off No. 10 at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
QCC FINAL-ROUND PAIRINGS
The Final Round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., Tuesday. The Cougars will compete in foursomes with student-athletes from Wake Forest and Rice.

UP NEXT
Following the Querencia Cabo Collegiate and the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, the Cougars will play host to the Border Olympics on March 11-12 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
From there, the team will host the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on March 21-22 at Floridian Golf Club.
