HOUSTON - The University of Houston Department of Athletics continued to receive academic recognition with 160 student-athletes named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for the 2014-15 school year, the league announced Thursday.
Student-athletes from all 17 Houston sport programs earned All-Academic honors for their hard work in the classroom.
Alan De Bondt, Blair Hamilton, Matt Dunn, Emmett Oh, Michael Perras, Kyle Pilgrim and Matt Williams represented Houston Men's Golf on the list. It was the fourth straight season in which Pilgrim was named to a conference All-Academic Team, while Oh collected the honor for the third straight year.
Pilgrim was honored Wednesday as one of 22 student-athletes to receive the 2014-15 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award from The American. The selections were made by the conference's Academic Affairs Committee.
In the classroom, Pilgrim recorded a 3.91 grade-point average in accounting in the Honors College and received his bachelor's degree in May.
Baseball and Men's Track and Field had the most All-Academic Team selections (24) among Houston sport programs. Men's Cross Country led all sport programs with 88.9 percent of its student-athletes named to the conference list followed by Women's Cross Country with 81.8 percent.

In addition to the three records, 73 Houston student-athletes earned Dean's List honors by recording a 3.50 GPA or better while passing 12 or more hours.
