Houston Volleyball Falls in Three to Temple

HOUSTON -- Houston Volleyball dropped a three-set match (20-25, 17-25, 16-25) to second place Temple Sunday afternoon.
Houston drops to 16-10 overall, 6-8 in the American Athletic Conference while Temple improved 18-8, 9-5 in league play.
After falling 2-0 into intermission, the Cougars came out to a 6-3 lead forcing a Temple timeout. Houston held the lead until Temple went on a 5-2 run to tie the match, 8-8. From there, the teams battled back and forth until the Owls took over and claimed the match with a 25-16 win in set three.
Redshirt freshman Chenelle Walker led the Cougars hitting .250 with seven kills and four blocks. Freshman hitter Brookah Palmer finished the game with eight kills, an ace, seven digs and two blocks. Outside hitters Shelby Harper and Claire McCown followed with six kills apiece.
Senior libero Olivia O'Dell tallied nine digs in the three-set match, marking her first match without double-digit digs. O'Dell has totaled 565 digs this season, moving up to fifth in school history for digs in a single season.
NEXT SERVE
The Cougars hit the road next weekend for two matches before returning home for the final time. Houston travels to Tulsa Friday night for a match at 7 p.m. UH heads to Dallas, Texas, for a Sunday match against SMU. First serve set for 1 p.m.
