Volleyball Drops Tough Match to Memphis

HOUSTON â€" Houston Volleyball dropped a tough five-set match (25-21, 25-19, 14-25, 23-25, 11-15) to Memphis Friday night in the Athletics/Alumni Center.
Houston falls to 14-5 overall, 4-3 in the American Athletic Conference while the Tigers improve to 12-8, 3-4 American. The Cougars are now 5-2 in five-set matches.
The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead heading into the half. But Memphis wouldn't let up as the Tigers took three straight sets to claim the match, 3-2.
Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer and sophomore setter Keandra McCardell recorded their eighth double-doubles of the season. Palmer posted 18 kills and 15 digs while McCardell tallied 35 assists and 10 digs.
The Cougars recorded a season-high 14 blocks in the match led by redshirt freshman middle blocker Chenelle Walker who posted a career high nine blocks (two solo, seven assists) and nine kills in the five set match.
Senior libero Olivia O'Dell recorded her 19th straight match with double-digit dig match and her 11th 20+dig match of the season.

Houston Volleyball continues its homestand with a match against conference rival Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m. The match is tabbed as the annual Dig Pink match. All fans who wear pink will get in for $4. The first 250 fans into the Cougar Den will receive a free Pink UH Rubber Ducky.
