Houston Volleyball Undefeated at Islanders Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Redshirt junior Kadi Kullerkann's 37-kill performance pushed Houston Volleyball to a five set win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (25-21, 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-10) Friday night.
Kullerkann knocked a career best 37 kills against TAMUCC, hitting .405. Her performance ties for second all-time in school history and the school record for the most kills in a five-set match. Kullerkann also recorded 12 kills during the first match of the day against UT-Pan American.
Kullerkann was named to the all-tournament team for her star-studded performance against host school Texas A&M-CC.
Houston is now 7-4 entering American Athletic Conference Play next weekend.
The Cougars took a three set win (27-25, 25-15, 25-15) over UT-Pan American to start the tournament.
Houston held the Broncos to a .059 hitting average, forcing 26 attack errors. The Cougars also won six points off service aces and 10 service errors by UTPA.
In the third set, The Cougars held UTPA to a .000 hitting average (10-10-33) while setter Destiny Patterson served nine points.
On the day, Houston Defense also had a big showing as the Cougars recorded 15.0 blocks, nine coming against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 138 digs and only four reception errors.
Senior libero Natalie Keck recorded a career best of 39 digs in five sets. Her all-star performance is tied for second all-time in school history. She picked up a total of 56 digs in the two matches this afternoon.
Senior hitter Cortney Warren picked up her second 20-kill match of the season.
Patterson recorded her third career double-double against TAMUCC with 56 assists and 15 digs.

Houston begins American Athletic Conference Play Friday, Sept. 26 as Cincinnati comes to town for a match at 7 p.m. The Cougars then face Memphis Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
