THE LINEUP
Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, now in his sixth season at Houston, will be using the same lineup for the second straight tournament. Juniors Vincent Martino and Kyle Pilgrim, seniors Kyle Pilgrim and Roman Robledo and freshman Michael Perras will represent Houston.
In addition, sophomores Matt Scobie and Emmett Oh and freshman Papito Gonzalez will compete as individuals for the Cougars.
Martino leads the Cougars this season with a 74.17 scoring average and three rounds of par or better. The Southlake, Texas, native posted a career-best finish with a second-place finish at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate on Sept. 5-7. It was the third top-5 finish in his collegiate career.
Hamilton has posted a pair of back-to-back top-20 finishes to open the fall campaign and is a close second to Martino with a 74.33 scoring average, The Burlington, Ontario, Canada, native tied for 11th at the Northern Intercollegiate and recently finished 16th at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
Pilgrim was the Cougars' leading performer at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, finishing sixth with a score of 219. The Colleyville, Texas, native enjoyed the third top-10 finish of his career.
Perras has competed in each of the first two fall tournaments to open his collegiate career. The Deer Park High product was an award-winning prep star and tied for 24th at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in late September.
Robledo has struggled at times early in the 2014 fall season, but Houston fans are familiar with his work. The Harlingen, Texas, native was a PING All-America Second-Team honoree a year ago after winning four titles and advanced to the U.S. Amateur Championship Quarterfinals in Atlanta earlier this summer.
Scobie will make his season debut at this week's event. A year ago, the Ajax, Ontario, Canada, native competed in seven tournaments with top-10 showings in four of those, including a fifth-place finish at the Sam Houston State/Harold Funston Invitational.
Like Scobie, Oh will compete in his first tournament of the 2014 fall season. The Calgary, Alberta, Canada, native played four events in 2013-14 and tied for 12th at the Sam Houston State/Harold Funston Invitational for the best finish of his young career.
Gonzalez will make his collegiate debut with this weekend's event. A year ago, he sat out as a redshirt after competing as a basketball and golf star at McAllen's Memorial High.
UP NEXT
Following the Miramont Invitational, the Cougars will close out their fall season when they compete at the Baylor Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas on Oct. 27-28.
From there, the team will take a break until the spring season, but Robledo will have one more event. As a PING All-American Second-Team honoree a year ago, he will compete as an individual at the Sun Bowl Western Refining College All-America Classic. This prestigious event will be held Nov. 7-9 at El Paso Country Club in El Paso, Texas.
