VICTORIA, Texas - The University of Houston golf team wrapped up its non-conference schedule Tuesday afternoon with an 11th-place finish at the Jim West Intercollegiate at Victoria Country Club.
The Cougars posted a final-round team score of 308 to finish the three-day, 54-hole event with a score of 919 on the 6,870-yard, par-72 course.
Freshman Curtis Reed posted a score of 8-over-par 224 to lead the Cougars and tie for 25th place on the individual leaderboard. Other Cougars in action were freshman Jesse Droemer (t-37th, 228), freshman Wesley McClain (t-61st, 234), freshman Bryn Flanagan (t-73rd, 238), junior Eric Adler (t-73rd, 238) and sophomore Joseph Reynolds (t-52nd, 231), who competed as an individual.
Louisiana Tech captured the team championship of 864, making the Bulldogs the only team to finish under par. Southeastern Louisiana finished second at 871, while UT Arlington placed third at 878 with Louisiana-Lafayette (888), host Texas State (893), College of Charleston (894), South Alabama (895), Sam Houston State (897), Stephen F. Austin (898) and UTSA (914) rounding out the top-10 leaders.
Individually, Southeastern Louisiana's Philipp Westermann won earned medalist honors after firing a 1-under-par 71 in the final round and finishing at 209, one stroke ahead of UT Arlington's Wes Worster. Louisiana Tech's Clinton Shepard ranked third at 213, while James Glenn of Sam Houston State finished fourth at 214.

The Cougars will take a little time off before competing at the Conference USA Championships at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Texas, on April 24-26.
