Los Angeles, Calif. - The University of Houston volleyball team jumped back into the win column Saturday night with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-22) win over Boise State in their final match of the Crowne Plaza LAX Tournament.

The Cougars recorded 17 kills on their way to a first set win. They built a seven point lead after going on a 7-1 run mid-way through the set to lead 18-11. Houston then cruised to a 25-20 win.
In the second set, Houston opened with a 4-0 lead. They continued to increase their lead, 10-7, before a 4-1 run forced Boise State to call a timeout, trailing 14-8. Out of the break the Broncos cut the lead to four 16-12, but Houston was able to eventually pull away and win the second set, scoring the final five points.
Houston cemented their second sweep of an opponent this season by winning the third set behind six kills from Cave and six team blocks. Boise State battled hard in their final chance to extend the match, forcing six tie matches and three lead changes.
Houston finished 1-2 on the weekend with the win over Boise State. The Cougars lost matches to Loyola Marymount and No. 20 UC Irvine earlier in the weekend.
With the win Houston improves to 2-9 on the season and 1-0 all-time against Boise State.
