Golf Falls to 13th at The River Landing Intercollegiate

WALLACE, N.C. - The University of Houston fell into 13th place Saturday after shooting a team score of 309 during the second day of The River Landing Intercollegiate.
For the second straight day, senior Jordan Irwin fired a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Cougars and move into a tie for fifth place on the 6,942-yard, par-72 River Course.
Other Cougars in action were Steven Frazier (74-80 -154, t-64th), Brady Shivers (75-82 - 157, t-73rd), Ben Moser (79-79 - 158, 78th) and Jackie Lindsey (80-79 - 159, 79th).
Host NC State and Duke were tied for the team lead after the second round at 2-under-par 574. Wake Forest (581), Memphis (582) and Florida State (583) rounded out the Top-Five team leaders.
Individually, Wake Forest's Webb Simpson stood alone atop the leaderboard at 5-under-par 139 with NC State's Kent Copeland and Duke's Michael Schachner one shot back at 140.

This weekend's tournament marks the Cougars' final regular-season event. Houston will compete at the Conference USA Championship on April 20-22 in Texarkana, Texas, at the Texarkana Country Club.
