Golf tied for 2nd at the Border Olympics

Houston- With temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, the University of Houston golf team posted a combined 4-over-par 580 through the first two rounds at the Border Olympics on Friday to finish in a tied for second-place. The 14-team tournament is being played at the Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
UH is tied with South Carolina-Aiken and are four shots behind Arkansas. Lamar University and New Mexico State are tied for 4th-place, three strokes behind Houston.
Rounding out the top-ten are Baylor, Washington State, North Texas, UT-Arlington and UTEP, respectively.
In the individual race, Baylor's Colton Williams leads the way with a 7-under-par 137. Sam Chavez of Arkansas posted a second round 65 for the tournament's lowest round.
The balanced Cougar attack was led by a trio of juniors who all shot a 1-over-par 145. Steven Frazier, Ben Moser and Brady Shivers all finished the day tied 13th overall.
Senior Jordan Irwin carded a first-round 73 followed by a second-round 74 to close with a 3-over 147, good enough for a tie for 23rd-place.
Houston will return to the par-72, 7,241-yard course tomorrow morning at 8a.m (CST) and will be paired with Washington State and South Carolina-Aiken.
