The University of Houston golf team wraps up its fall season this week when it competes at the Baylor Intercollegiate.
The 54-hole event begins with the first two rounds Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. The Cougars join a competitive field on the 7,068-yard, par-71 course at Royal Oaks Country Club, facing Arkansas, BYU, College of Charleston, Kansas, Lamar, New Mexico, Oklahoma, SMU, St. Mary's, Texas A&M and host Baylor.
Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
Junior Ben Moser continues to lead the Cougars with a 72.2 scoring average, more than two strokes better than his closest competitor on the team. With back-to-back 15th-place finishes to open the season, the Waterloo, Ontario, native has led UH in both events.
Sophomore transfer Matt Eschenburg will compete for the Cougars for the second time this season but his first in contributing toward the team score. The Woodlands, Texas, native played as an individual at the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic on Sept. 8-9, firing a 2-under-par 70 in the final round to tie for 46th.
Junior Corey Steger will make his Cougar debut at this event as well. The North Vancouver, B.C, native recently joined the team after earning NJCAA All-America honors at Frank Phillips Junior College a year ago.
Other Cougars scheduled to compete are junior Jackie Lindsey and senior Brady Shivers.
This will be the third and final fall tournament for the Cougars in 2008. UH was scheduled to compete at the Kansas Invitational on Sept. 15-16 but was forced to cancel their appearance due to Hurricane Ike.
Following the Baylor Intercollegiate, the Cougars will take a break from action until Feb. 16-17 when they open the spring season at the Rice Intercollegiate.
